LOCALS :Deano Poutney

In our new weekly feature, we are getting out and about on the trails to meet everyday locals and find out a bit more about them and their bikes.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

Name: Deano Poutney
Age: 42 I think...
Job: I'm a Joiner
Bike: Norco DH

What are your local trails?
I ride up here at Gawton a couple of times a month and some local bits and bobs around Bude in the woods. We've built some jumps, but nothing as long as here at Gawton.

How often do you ride?
I try and get out as much as I possibly can.

What types of riding do you normally do?
Well I ride downhill, but I mess around up the woods.

Talk us through your bike?
I got my Norco DH 2nd hand from Dartmoor Cycles about 4/5 months ago. I had an old Santa Cruz Bullet before so this is a step up to say the least. Its so much nicer, faster and smoother, its just really good. The previous owner had put on the Saint cranks and E13 bashguard but I haven't changed anything really. Its all as I bought it... ohh I replaced the mech hanger after snapping the old one off.

What's your favourite part on the bike?
My favourite part is the rear shock. Its only the stock one which came on the bike, but its such an improvement from my old bike. As soon as I sat on it, I loved it.

Next upgrade planned for the bike?
To be honest nothing really. I'm really happy with it as it is... I may put some slightly wider bars on it for my trip to France which is coming up and maybe an integrated stem so the front ends a little lower. That's about it really. I guess we'll see how we go.

What other bikes do you own?
I have a Commencal Meta 5 which I use for playing around the local trails and messing around. Obviously got this one, the Norco DH and an old bike I ride to work but that doesn't count.
